AFTER CARE
Instructions
You were just tattooed with sterilized instruments and pigments. If you follow these simple directions, the healing process will be effective and you will have a new, attractive tattoo. The life of your tattoo is dependent upon the necessary care it receives in the first few days.
Remove bandage after 2 Hours.
Wash your tattoo thoroughly with mild soap (no perfume or dyes) and hot water. Pat dry with clean towel. good examples of soaps are dial, soft soap, cera v, or aveeno
Use clean hands to apply a thin coat of A&D Ointment, or aquaphor, and blot any excess ointment off with a clean paper towel
(No Vaseline, Alcohol, or Neosporin)
Do NOT apply ointments too heavily. You don't want the tattoo to dry out, but your skin must be able to breathe.
Do NOT re-bandage your tattoo.
Do NOT rub, scratch or pick your tattoo.
Do NOT expose your new tattoo to direct sunlight or tanning beds for at least 14 days.
Do NOT soak in tub, spa, swim in a pool or the ocean, or use a sauna for at least 14 days. (Sun, Saltwater or Chlorine can act as a bleach and will ruin your new tattoo)
Wear lightweight loose clothing over your tattoo, especially if you work around grease, oil, dirt, etc.
Be sure that anything that touches your new tattoo, hands, clothes, towels, are clean.
As your tattoo heals it will develop a light flakes. Allow it to fall of naturally. Do not pick or pull it off.
After the peeling process, your tattoo will be shiny, new skin. You can use a mild lotion to moisturize your new tattoo. The healing process should take about 14 days.
Your tattoo is your responsibility once the tattooist has completed your new tattoo. Remember, your tattoo looks bright and beautiful, but it is a controlled abrasion, an open wound, treat it as such. Keep it clean and dry during the healing process and you will enjoy your new art for years.
